Family physicians working in Nunavut should be experienced in the Canadian medical system and have a good understanding of its referral patterns.

Contracts are only being offered at present to family physicians with full, unrestricted registration in another Canadian jurisdiction and those who are active members of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Preference is given to family physicians holding the CCFP designation.

Successful completion of ACLS, ATLS, PALS and NRP courses is a requirement for working in Nunavut. Physicians who prefer to work in Rankin Inlet and those providing obstetrical care in Iqaluit should have successfully completed the ALSO or the ALARM course.
